Before giving you tips about how to manage your stress and get rid of it, we need to understand how it works in the first place. So based on a definition I found on the internet stress management is a wide spectrum of techniques and psychotherapies aimed at controlling a person’s lev- BLAA BLAAA BLAAAA I don’t even understand what are they talking about and probably you won’t too so hear me out, stress management are the things you have to do in order to get rid of the panic and to not lose your focus during stressful moments like exams, tests, interviews or any other life situations. So here are some tips to follow in order to reduce your stress :


1-Breathe properly :

Fixing your breathing is important, because at any kind of a stressful situation you’ll find yourself breathing quickly and in a random way which is going to intense your fear that triggers severe physical reactions, so one of the easiest go-to things you can do is fixing your breathing by camping down and adopting some basic breathing techniques :

  • Relax your neck and shoulders.
  • Keep your mouth closed, inhale slowly, deeply and gently through your nose and count to 4.
  • Hold your breath and count to 7.
  • Purse your lips and exhale slowly while counting to 8.


This breathing technique is called the 4-7-8 and it’s scientifically proven that it gives your organs and tissues a much-needed oxygen boost.

2- Use grounding techniques when you feel like you’re about to panic :

Maybe it’ll seem kind of strange but believe me I tried this technique and it worked really well to get my act together and focus. So when you feel like you’re about to panic try to first of all focus on your breathing, then look around and try to find :

  • 5 things you can see.
  • 4 things you can touch.
  • 3 things you can hear.
  • 2 things you can smell.
  • 1 thing you can taste.


After finding all the stuff mentioned before you’ll be already forgetting about your stress which will make focusing back much easier and it’s more like you took a short break and just came back to finish your work.

3- Be healthy :

“Eat healthily, exercise, have a healthy sleep schedule, and meditate”, the basic combo we keep hearing about, it’s actually not some kind of cliché but it’s scientifically proven that this effective lifestyle and habits can make a difference in reducing your stress and building skills to confront your fear and beat it.

4- Motivate yourself and always remember your goals :

Sometimes we’re all in a need for someone to encourage and motivate us to reach our goals, we rely upon one another to stabilize ourselves. Not hearing those positive affirmations can lead us to end up feeling bad about ourselves, we’ll be feeling like losers left alone. To be honest, the idea itself of being dependent on others and the instant need for encouragement is the problem. Once you start believing in yourself, and start getting rid of the insecurities you’ll be fine, so stand up for yourself and be the one who’s always there for YOU. I know sometimes we get tired and stressed when the progress is slow. Always remember your goals, look how far you’ve come and be proud of yourself. That’s the key.

5- Use the worst case scenario (focus on what you stand to gain not lose) :

“This is the worst idea you had”, “it won’t work”, “why are you so sure about this?”
“Nobody cares about that”, “that’s totally a fail”, “you’re wrong”…
As a human you’ve probably heard a lot of these phrases at least once in your life, the thing about us being humans is that we keep forgetting that failure is just an idea that we make up in our head, we decide that THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN and if doesn’t then we decide that we failed at achieving it. I think that the most important thing to do is to realise that NOTHING is ever going to happen, I mean in the worst cases you’ll find yourself trying again, no harm in that indeed. Our minds have a tendency to exaggerate certain expectations. We keep stressing over things that won’t kill us in the worst scenario. So always keep in mind that it’s okay if it doesn’t work.

I know you’ve read this article thinking that you will get rid of your stress and stop thinking negatively, i’m sorry to say that there’s a harsh truth that you may have missed which it is YOU WILL NEVER STOP STRESSING OUT, that’s it, that’s the thing about being humans, stress is just a part of us, it’s an emotion, something that we live with and you can’t get rid of, that’s impossible.
