The AI hackathon is an annual event hosted at the National School of Computer Sciences at Mannouba’s
University Campus. It was organized by the IEEE ENSI student branch that is part of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineering known as IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional
organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
Our event was hosted online on the 9th and the 10th of April due to the pandemic.

This year’s event’s theme revolved around the impact of AI on financial services, Artificial intelligence
(AI), and Machine Learning encompasses everything from chatbot assistants to fraud detection and task
automation. Adopting it into financial institutions will accelerate and shift regulatory frameworks.
The Hackathons’ purpose was to feature innovative ideas of the rising generations and the ability to put
them into action.

In this year’s edition, many interesting profiles were present in our event as speakers, including Mr. Imed
HANANA, the President of ATIA (Tunisian Association of Artificial Intelligence) since 2019, Mr. Hatem
Haddad, the Cofounder, and CTO at iCompass, and finally, Mr. Karem Chatti, a data scientist.
Additionally, there were many workshops, hosted by specialists and distinguished individuals that
boosted participants’ motivation and improved their knowledge about the AI industry. For starters, Ms.
Amél Sellami, a Google developer expert in machine learning and researcher that graduated from ENSI,
who lectured about finance and AI. Afterwards it was Mr.Mohamed Mnif’s turn, a IHEC graduate with a
Certified Chartered accountant, who lectured about decentralized finance.

For these reasons, this event was an invaluable opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in an
area that is the buzz of the IT world. Our event also featured some musical breaks performed by our
musician Radouen Oueslatias, a breathing window for our participants and get their motivation up as the
competition is dawning on them.

It’s also important to mention a new concept was introduced in this edition: TED talks. Our speakers
Ahlem Ben Othman and Khormologia told us about their success stories in order to help spread positive
energy and up the spirits of the participants.
This edition of the AI hackathon was a success with many participants present from across the world and
over 140 teams competing in the hackathon and it definitely set the bar high for next editions.
