A 17-year-old student has been arrested on charges of “possessing a medium used by criminal organizations”.
Isn’t this charge just as big for a simple use of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency in an online activity?

Unfortunately it is 2021 and the Tunisian authorities are still unaware of the benefits that this new form of currency offers and that since Bitcoin’s inception in 2009, it has turned into a highly volatile investing asset that can be used for transactions. And when finding a solution for his unemployment in a country that doesn’t provide you obviously with anything, arresting him is really cruel!
Is this country really ready to be open to new technologies? We still doubt it.

Some believe that this arrest was made only because of the total lack of law regarding the use of crypto-currencies in Tunisia, and in this context, the specialist in “blockchain” technology Mr. Mustapha Boufares calls on lawmakers to draft a bill on Bitcoin and other payment methods that remain prohibited by the authorities. He deplores the monetary isolation of Tunisia, which still prevents the Tunisian to be able to pay in 2021, a simple Netflix subscription in dollars or euros with a paypal card!

The hashtags of #Sayeb_Digital are trending in social networks to denounce this absurd arrest.

This incident is really very serious and the government, which is totally surpassed by the evolution of technology must study these absurd acts, it is time to encourage this initiative!
